Senior Multi-Axis Laser Machinist/Technician

This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the industry's newest and most advanced multi-axis laser cutting/drilling machine centers to produce complex high-precision components for commercial and defense aerospace industrial applications. You will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure parts are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Preferred 5 years minimum experience in the field of multi-axis laser cutting
  • Experience with Prima Power Laserdyne system - Fiber laser experience is a plus
  • Possess or ability to achieve laser safety certification in accordance with LIA/OSHA/ANSI
  • Experience laser cutting / drilling tight tolerance and complex geometry parts
  • Possess a solid understanding of linear coordinate systems, multi-axis rotations, single/dual rotaries, and offsets
  • Understand laser power parameters including pulse-width, frequency, peak power, average power, Jules, penetration dwell, gas types/pressures
  • Experience cutting high temp nickel alloys including Inconel, Hastelloy, Haynes, as well as 300/400 series stainless steels, aluminums, and carbon steels
  • Proficient with G&M machine codes and programming structures including subroutines
  • Able to write simple-to-medium complexity programs and utilize CAM software such as Autodesk Fusion 360 highly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T including true position, bilateral/unilateral profile, runout, flatness, parallelism, etc.
  • Experience with fixed processes and understanding of Laser NADCAP Aerospace requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Laser cutting / drilling tight tolerance and complex geometry parts using 6 axis Prima Power Laserdyne Fiber Optic Lasers
  • Set up laser machining centers completely and independently
  • Perform precise laser beam, beam director, OFC, and camera alignments to obtain machine precision within specification
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot issues with Automatic Focus Control - AFC
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance and minor machine repairs
  • Troubleshoot machining issues regarding equipment performance, tooling/fixtures fitment, and part tolerances
  • Read and interpret G&M machine codes and programming structures including subroutines
  • Write simple-to-medium complexity programs and utilize CAM software such as Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T including true position, bilateral/unilateral profile, runout, flatness, parallelism, etc.
  • Follow work instructions in compliance with procedures and specifications
  • Inspect to detail drawings or sketches using manual precision measuring devices for dimensional verification
  • Recognize improper machine functioning or cutting and assist in developing corrective action
  • Provide respectful and constructive feedback regarding process performance while working with engineering, quality, management, and other employees.
