Power Plant Operator Full-time position at George Mason University, Facilities Department, Fairfax, VA. About the Position Under the supervision of the Power Plant Operator Shift Supervisor, this person will oversee the operation of the Central Heating and Cooling Plant (CHCP) and all satellite plants during the designated shift to ensure smooth operation and provide service to the university community. Working Hours Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 pm - 6:00 am. Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain the Central Heating and Cooling Plant and satellite plants to meet the university’s heating and cooling needs. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations. Competency in Microsoft Office software including Excel to develop spreadsheets. Preferred Qualifications Licensed Plant Operator or five (5) years working as Plant Operator. HVAC, Chiller, and Boiler Training. Low pressure and high-pressure boiler certification. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Plant Operation Certification. Five (5) years minimum experience in the operation of boilers, chillers and ancillary equipment. Benefits Competitive salary.
