Teach courses in health information management as assigned, including medical coding andσε supporting theory courses such as medical terminology, pathophysiology, and health record data content, structure, and standards. Deliver instruction in online, hybrid, or face‑to‑face formats. Support, mentor, and advise students, including scheduling sufficient weekly office hours on campus. Evaluate student learning to demonstrate the AHIMA Entry‑Level Competencies for Health Information Management (HIM) at the Associate Degree Level. Assist in implementation and assessment of curriculum, program accreditation standards, and program goals. Participate in program review and student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning. Support, mentor, and advise students in a multi‑cultural setting with sensitivity to and awareness of the educational challenges faced by racially minoritized students. Attend faculty meetings and participate in campus committees. Coordinate advisory committee meetings and establish relationships with the professional community. Maintain continuous professional membership in the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the California Health Information Association (CHIA). Establish and maintain practicum settings and arrange student placement for professional practice experience. Collaborate with high schools offering dual enrollment HIT courses. Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed. Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online, off‑campus, and large group instruction classes as needed. Otherwise fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practice within the classroom. Conditions of Employment 178 duty days per year. Salary and Benefits Starting annual salary is $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. Duty days will be prorated based upon start of assignment. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. Additional fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage and life insurance. Employees are members of CalSTRS. Selection Procedure Applicants will be screened by Human Resources for completeness and to determine minimum qualification compliance. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and have submitted all required documents by the closing date will be considered by a selection advisory committee for interview. Committee ratings on interview, teaching demonstration, and writing prompt will determine recommended candidates. Selected candidates will be forwarded to the Vice President and President for final interviews. A final hiring recommendation will be made to the Board of Trustees.
