Acorn Forestry is seeking a dependable General Forestry Laborer/Burn Technician to join our Burn field crew. This full-time role offers steady, year-round outdoor work with opportunities to travel and develop new skills in reforestation and prescribed burning. Ideal candidates are safety-conscious, punctual, and take pride in their work supporting forestry operations across the western Gulf region.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ignition activities according to approved burn plans
• Light fire lines during prescribed burn operations
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols
• Monitor fire behavior and report changes immediately
• Support site preparation, execution, and securing of burn areas
• Assist with reforestation and other forestry services
• Properly use and maintain hand tools
• Travel frequently, including about 25% overnight stays, for project work
• Follow direction from supervisors at all times

Required Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to navigate difficult terrain and lift heavy items
• Pass a background check
• Reliable and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
• Willingness to relocate to Lufkin, TX before starting

• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Experience navigating challenging terrain
• Physical stamina for demanding outdoor work
• Familiarity with prescribed burn operations and safety compliance
