Adjunct Faculty, Environmental Science Lone Star College – Magnolia Center, a state‑of‑the‑art satellite center serving students in Southwest Montgomery and Southeast Waller counties. Purpose & Scope As an adjunct faculty member, you will design, deliver, and assess courses in Environmental Science, facilitating student learning and contributing to the academic community of the college. Essential Job Functions Teach Environmental Science courses at varied times and locations. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following institutional guidelines. Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods. Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and inform students in a timely manner. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required. Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content. Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation. Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints; work effectively with a wide variety of people. Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies. Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and a dynamic climate for lifelong learning. Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology. Use effective strategies to engage students in their learning. Physical Abilities The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving. No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule and Conditions Equipment includes PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out position functions. Work in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Hours vary based on class time; instructors must be available to students outside of class instruction. Required Qualifications Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in environmental science, biology, environmental geology, and/or ecology. Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
